Volleyball Setter's Sprained Ankle
This past spring, an athlete - who also happens to be my daughter - sprained her ankle after a classmate accidentally stepped on it in gym class. The ankle swelled up immediately and she had a big JO volleyball tournament the following weekend. In addition to standard protocol of ice, compression and elevation, it was a great opportunity to see if CranioSacral Therapy - combined with Fascia/Tissue Release - would help the healing process. And most importantly to my daughter, get back on the court in time for the tournament. What is CranioSacral Therapy? CranioSacral Therapy, uses a very gentle, light touch approach. Pain and problems are relieved at the source. The body's natural self-healing mechanism is activated while soothing the central nervous system. Result? While gently applying the techniques above and below her injury combined with standard injury protocol, she could feel the muscles and surrounding tissues begin to relax almost immediately. She was able to get back on the court in time for the tournament and insists it's the fastest she's ever recovered from a sprained ankle.* Additional Pain Relief Note: My daughter is currently playing college volleyball. In addition to the sprained ankle, this work has helped support her body through normal stresses an athlete goes through with muscles and joints. It also eliminated a migraine that she developed on the court which most likely was due to bumps and dives during the game. CranioSacral Therapy is also helpful for the following conditions**: Migraines/headaches Post concussions symptoms Muscle and joint pain relief due to stress and injury Sinus Pressure Relief Stress Relief Easy, convenient online scheduling is available 24/7. *Individual results may vary **Not intended to replace medical advice.
